If you suspect mold in your home or office, it may be a good idea to have the area of concern tested. Mold inspection and testing are crucial processes for identifying the presence of mold in indoor environments. It is common knowledge that mold growth can lead to health issues along with property damage, so proper inspection and testing are important for addressing any concerns. Mold inspection usually begins with a visual inspection by a trained professional. We are a certified mold inspection company and are trained to look for visible signs of mold, such as discoloration, water damage, and musty odors in areas of your concern.

Not all mold is visible. Our highly-trained technicians at Safer Home Services LLC use specialty tools such as moisture meters both non-invasive and invasive, as well as Flir moisture meters which is a professional moisture meter with thermal imaging designed to show you exactly where to investigate issues related to moisture, air leaks, and insulation voids. We provide a thorough inspection of your space utilizing these high-tech instruments.

Most people have only seen black mold, but mold has many different-colored appearances which may fool you into thinking you are looking at a dirty surface.  Attempts to clean mold improperly will only result in the return of the mold. Our certified mold specialists can identify mold in all the dark, damp spaces of your home or business even if the area is difficult to access and no matter the color!

Air samples or surface samples can be collected when testing for mold from different areas of concern to assess mold spore concentration. This helps to determine if mold spore levels are elevated, however, any amount of mold should be immediately treated before further mold growth occurs.

Detecting mold in your home or office is important for your health and well-being. Here are some steps to help you determine if there is mold:

Mold will grow in any area that is prone to moisture such as bathrooms, kitchens, basements, crawl spaces and attics.  More specifically mold can be found under or around sinks, toilets, showers, refrigerators, washing machines and other appliances that use water. Mold grows well on paper products, cardboard, ceiling tiles, wallpaper, carpet, fabric, and any other porous surface that has been exposed to excess moisture.

If there is moisture, chances are there is mold. Even the smallest leak can result in mold growth. Mold can grow behind drywall, on insulation, under carpeting, behind closets, cabinets, or furniture.  Mold can even grow in the HVAC system of your home or office.  Our specialists are trained to identify any source of moisture that is a breeding ground for mold.

Visible damage such as staining, cracks or peeling paint on walls or ceilings, buckled flooring, and discolored grout could all be an indication of water intrusion. Swollen doors, baseboards, or windowsills may also indicate that water is seeping in from an unidentified leak.  A musty or moldy smell can be present in an area that was affected by water intrusion even if you can’t see it, or if the surface appears to be dry.

Clogged gutters can lead to overflowing water which may cause water to penetrate your home or office foundation. Clean the gutters regularly to ensure proper water flow. Ensure that all downspouts have extensions that direct water away from your home or office foundation. Extensions should discharge water at least 5 to 10 feet away from the foundation.
